I am very proud that my debut, "Luminous", is being released on the Atmoworks label. Luminous will be available on Aug.29th -- but you can order it as early as the 21st by going to www.Atmoworks.com. There will be two formats available - CD and download.
It took months of remixing, finalizing the order of the ten tracks and getting it into the hands of Vir Unis for mastering but the long awaited debut CD from ambientPortal is now ready for your listening pleasure.

A lush assortment of ambient musical experiences that will take the listener into meditative dimensions and back.Sublime pads, otherworldly textures and minimal beats by Mykl Neufeld make you feel like you are one with all things.

ambientPORTAL-Luminous
A new album by San Francisco bay area dj & electronic musician, AmbientPortal, is being released by AtmoWorks.
Mykl Neufeld, aka Ashachill, recording under AmbientPortal, is introducing his first published and recorded album "Luminous". Deeply ambient, naturally atmospheric, and organically chilled, this album is a collection of rich and enduring works, exploring the deepness of outerworlds and the dark interiors of psychoacoustic space.

This enviroment is bursting at the seams with field recordings and manipulated organic samples, having a very pronounced organic quality.
I've chosen to work predominantly in the analog domain on this one in order to maintain the subtleness and incredible liquid-high-fidelity sound that I feel digital methods (no matter how esoteric and expensive) simply cannot capture. A new analog modular synth/FX system is also being used for pastoral sound backdrops and sonic treatments.
The mastering and tracking process is direct to tape with the final analog master captured at 24bit 96k. This should provide for an incredibly rich and deeply sublte environment.
